Sparking lives is contagious: Not just seniors’ lives, but the world

What began as a mission to spark the lives of seniors has evolved over the past ten years into something even bigger – we’re not just sparking lives, we’re sparking the world.

As part of our commitment to strengthen our Lifesprk culture, each month, our team is committed to volunteering at various opportunities throughout the Twin Cities to spark the lives of people in the communities where we work and live. November’s volunteer opportunity, ‘Feed My Starving Children’ (FMSC) had the team doing much more – they were sparking the world.

Dressed in our signature Lifesprk purple, two teams of employees headed to Eagan and Chanhassen locations to pack boxes and send meals to starving children in Haiti. In total they packed 159 boxes, 34,000 meals and fed 94 children for one year. The FMSC group is a non-profit Christian organization committed to feeding children hungry in body and spirit. People hand-pack meals specifically formulated for malnourished children, and then ship them to FMSC’s distribution partners reaching nearly 70 countries across the world.

twin cities volunteering sparking livesWe know in our profession that sparking seniors’ lives makes a difference and because of that effort seniors have improved outcomes. But it’s the people who make that spark happen. Our culture has always been strong because sparking lives is contagious. When we see first-hand the spark return to someone’s eyes we know we are making a difference at a very personal level and we are improving lives, even our own. Every day our team comes to work with an energy of sparking lives in their community and beyond.

We are thankful this holiday season that our team was able to create a bigger spark and help improve outcomes for children in Haiti. What’s next for our team? Stay tuned and if you have a local organization who needs our spark, let us know and we’ll add you to our volunteer series.
