Lifespark’s Diabetes Awareness Campaign Supporting You And Your Clients and Families

November is National Diabetes Awareness Month but given that one in four adults (26.8%) age 65 and older has type 2 diabetes, Lifespark is devoting the next three months to diabetes awareness and education.

There’s another, even more urgent reason we’re focusing on this chronic condition: COVID-19 and influenza. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), people with type 2 diabetes are at greater risk of becoming severely ill from coronavirus and the flu – but then again, we probably don’t have to tell you that. What you may not know, Lifespark is uniquely positioned to serve the full scope of life challenges of living with diabetes – not just the medical risks. And during the upcoming holiday season, being able to help people during COVID-19 minimize their risks is pretty sweet.

Because we focus on each person’s life goals, we get great individual engagement which is critical for successful diabetes management. (The ‘compliance’ word!) Of course, what works for one person doesn’t necessarily work for another, especially as we age. “For example, acceptable blood glucose levels for seniors often need to be higher to reduce the risk of falls,” says Lifespark’s Associate Medical Director, Sarah Johnson, APRN, CNP. “Lifespark nurses and providers are geriatric experts who specialize in the unique needs of seniors and can work closely with your clients to set the right level based on their individual needs and goals.”

Our overall message is clear. We want people to know diabetes does not need to define you or limit your life. By making small, sustainable lifestyle changes, seniors can live a sparked life while living with diabetes and together with you, we want to help them. We’ve woven this message into every campaign touchpoint: landing page, webinar, blogs, videos, tools, and resources for you to share, add content, and use as a resource with your clients who have diabetes.

How can you get involved? (Great question!) We encourage you to use our diabetes campaign as a platform to:

  • Create ongoing engagement with current customers
  • Generate interest and attention from prospective customers
  • Promote your knowledge and expertise
  • Strengthen website authority through embedded “backlinks” in your blogs and posts
  • Read and share some of our diabetes-related blog posts and use the hashtag #NoSugerMoreSpark
  • Peruse this partner handout for additional creative ideas
