At Lifesprk, we provide the 7 Elements of Wellbeing–a way to prioritize the needs and dreams of people in the second half of life in Minnesota. Through asking and listening to people like Betty–featured below–we can help make dreams and fun possible with the Lifesprk Experience™.<break>

Below is a story shared by Angela, one of our trusted Minneapolis Life Care Managers (RN) that shows how Lifesprk goes beyond just providing home care services:

Last Friday, Stella and I had the opportunity to take Betty, one of our residents, out shopping. She is a fashionista and is always dressed to the nines. Her daughter suggested that we take her shopping to her favorite store, Von Maur, located in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

betty-blog-photo-1When we arrived, she kept saying, “Have you two been drinking? I can’t believe that you would take me shopping and pay for it!” She picked out the jacket and blouse seen in the photos (they were on sale!) and had fun posing in the mirror of the dressing room. We had coffee in the food court and Stella showed her pictures from her recent African safari when she traveled to Kenya.

Then we wandered and window shopped, stopping at a Jewelry store where they cleaned her diamond rings. As we left, she commented that it was good she was flanked by us because her rings were so bright, someone might try to take them off her finger. We ended up the afternoon at Panera Bread for dinner. Her last comment of the evening was, “This was a great day out with my friends.”

Listen to an audio conversation on this topic: When I was eleven, I became obsessed with learning how to ride a unicycle. It was a slow and painful process, involving ugly gashes, lacerations, road rash, and bruises, but I refused to give up. How my mom survived the bloodletting is beyond me, but never once […]
