In Good Company is Lifespark’s internal podcast designed to elevate the stories of our team members while creating space to reflect on and live into our company values.
In our podcast, conversations center around the same questions for every episode, allowing each guest’s unique story to shine. The goal is twofold: to spotlight individuals across the organization, and to invite deeper engagement with the values that guide our work in senior health—and potentially our lives beyond it. Through storytelling, we hope colleagues recognize shared experiences, build meaningful connections, and imagine themselves more clearly as part of something purposeful.
No matter where you work at Lifespark, you’re in good company…
This podcast episode has all the feels.
A podcast first, we were honored to have not one guest, but two sit down with us. In this episode, we get to know Kelly Conrad, Executive Director, and Esme Wolfswinkel, Assistant Director, Health Services at Carver Ridge (now Director, Health Services – yeah Esme!!!)
Why two? As Esme said, we can’t do things alone – no matter what we do, we need the help of others. Their words of how they work together, how they live their lives prove we are better together.

Meet Ryan King, Controller at Lifespark. He’ll tell you accounting and finance jobs are pretty traditional, and you can get bogged down by the monotony. But at Lifespark, he gets to use his expertise and find purpose in his work, something he believes is very rare. A true servant-leader, Ryan is focused on listening, and providing supportive, collaborative feedback with his teams. Maybe that’s what drew him to Lifespark. Or was it his personal story about his grandparents that connected him to a deeper calling – his passion for numbers and serving others. We’ll let you decide.
Listen in as Ryan shares some of his tips to work through challenges proving even the mundane has a purpose…
Meet Lakia Gordon, Executive Director at Legacy of Farmington.
At 17 she was a server in a senior living community, and before the Executive Director resigned, she wrote Lakia a letter. The contents of that letter were so powerful that they stuck with her over the years while she was a criminal justice major. We won’t tell you what she wrote, you’ll have to listen to find out but it was profound enough to send her back to senior living.
What beliefs does she hold close when things get challenging? Listen for her advice on how to get through even the toughest days to find what matters most…
Little advice from Lakia – Silence can be great at times. Remember being present is just as valuable (we love that!)
Listen in for a good dose of reality and inspiration…
Meet Nick Schneeman, a nurse and Mobile Urgent Responder on our Urgent Response Services Team, and son of Dr. Nick Schneeman, Chief Medical Officer.
Surprising fact: Nick didn’t become a nurse until he was 39 years-old. He talks about the moment when he realized he was unhappy and needed something more out of his career. As he said, my life changed when I began taking care of others.
Nick’s lessons and thoughts are not over the top or overloaded in positivity, they are real. And very relatable. Could your ‘aha’ be found at Applebees? As you’ll hear from Nick, you just never know. Either way, as Nick says, today’s a new day – let’s get after it.
Listen in for a good dose of reality and inspiration…
At the age of 16, Johnny Russell, Lifespark Chaplain, and his family left their home in Liberia amid the chaos of civil war and found themselves at the University of Liberia with about 15,000 other people. While there, a woman’s young son died right in front of his eyes. The emotion of that moment is something he still feels today. What he witnessed was the community of people coming together to care for a mother even though everyone was hurting. He’s carried that throughout his journey shaping the Chaplain he is today.
This conversation was powerful. How does all of this translate into the work we do every day? It’s in Russell’s words of advice – no matter what situation we find ourselves in, we can pull together as humans.
Listen in as Johnny, aka, Russell shares his story…
with Anita Kalogeropoulos, Executive Director, Lifespark Hospice
When Anita’s sister passed away, she did some soul searching after realizing she wasn’t living her best life. That’s real. As was a surprising career twist that you would never expect.
How well do you know the people you work with? When we slow down and get clear (taking one from Joel and Dr. Bill’s book), we see each other for WHO we are, not the role we play at Lifespark.
Listen in as Anita shares her story…
