Early in the pandemic, Lifespark stood up a hospital-at-home program rapidly designing and implementing a unique option for customers to receive hospital-level care at home. Created in response to the COVID-19 crisis, Lifespark wasn’t concerned with reimbursement but helping people quickly to shorten hospital stays, ensure the availability of beds and supplies for acutely ill patients, and provide customers more choice about where they want to receive care. In partnership with North Memorial Health, Lifesprk began enrolling customers with a high satisfaction rate.
Fast forward two years and Hospital-At-Home programs are attracting a new field of providers who say they can sustain the model despite uncertainty over how Medicare will reimburse for the service in the future according to Diane Eastabrook, reporter for Modern Healthcare who covered this emerging topic. Lifespark was featured in her article as one complete senior health company who has done it, will aggressively stand up another acute care at home program later this year, and is already providing this level of services to members in their home right now.
