Rachael Evers, Senior Director of COMPLETE Senior Living, sharing her personal and professional journey on Lifespark's In Good Company podcast.

Your next 18 minutes just got more interesting. The newest episode of In Good Company is live, and our guest in the yellow chair is Rachael Evers, Senior Director, COMPLETE Senior Living (CSL). Note: At the time of recording, Rachael held a different seat on the bus – Director of Quality and Leadership Development – we’re glad to have her expertise now leading our CSL efforts!

What You’ll Hear in This Episode:

  • From rollerblades to registered nurse. Rachael grew up in rural Minnesota, where the nursing home was the town’s biggest employer. She rollerbladed there to volunteer as a kid, started working there at 16, and has never left senior living.
  • The 40-person Sunday dinner. Grandma’s house, kick the can in the street, and a definition of community that she sums up in one word: chaos.
  • The Positive Energy Bus. Are you in the right seat? Are you on the right bus? Rachael’s answer is worth a listen and may leave you with something to think about on your drive home.
  • Assume good intent. It sounds simple, and as Rachael and Jeremiah admit, it takes real practice. Her take on curiosity and empathy might change how you handle your next tough conversation.
  • What she reaches for when things get hard. Besides a daily devotion and her “be where your feet are” mantra, there’s a Diet Coke involved. You’ll have to listen for the rest.
  • The “just drive” family adventure. Two teenage boys, no itinerary, and a road trip that started in Minnesota and ended up where they least expected. We won’t spoil the rest.

Another great episode you won’t want to miss. Thank you, Rachael! To all our Lifesparkers – grab some headphones, press play, and crack a nice cold Diet Coke as we toast Rachael. Wherever you work at Lifespark, these stories remind us, you’re In Good Company…

Cello, Lawnmowers, and A Man Who Lived in a Van

Meet Spencer Cahoon — Director of our Urgent Response Team, nurse by trade (also married to one), and dad to four kids who probably keep him busier than any shift ever could. Spencer's story starts in a Washington cul-de-sac, where campfire nights with neighbors taught him what community really means. It shows up again in nursing school, where he traded lawnmowing money for a cello and started playing for hospice patients — because sometimes what someone needs isn't more medicine, it's music.
